In Standard ERP version 8.5 there are multiple changes that will impact your data backups and security.

Data security plans

You can read in detail about them on HansaWorld webpage https://www.hansaworld.com/en/support/data-security-plans, but essentially it means that without additional fee you will get only one automatic backup a day (please read second point for more details) and there will be no more continuous database copies or database journaling. That means that in the unfortunate case of damaged database you will be able to roll back to the latest nightly backup only.

Nightly backup

In the free data security plan Level 1 only one backup called TB.TXT is created daily. It is overwritten next day with a new backup which means you will not be able to roll back or investigate older backups unless you copy these files to another location. For customers hosted by us this is taken care of and you will still have backup of last 3 days on the cloud server and 30 days worth of backups in our remote backup storage. For self-hosted customers we urge to take precautionary measures to deal with this issue on their servers or contact us for assistance

Backup size

The new backups are encrypted using more modern algorithms making them more secure, but also making them less compressible. That means that storage of these backups can take up to 70% more space than before. Again - customers hosted by us should not worry as we have made sure there is enough space for them, but self hosted customers should take care that enough free space is available for Standard ERP server to run uninterrupted.
